
World Sign Language Teachers
WSLT MISSION
FIRST PRIORITY:
To share and exchange knowledge, expertise, and sign language teaching resources and its best practices globally, (e.g., International or World Conference on Sign Language Teachers via LESICO, produce Position Paper(s) on Recognition of National Sign Language Teaching Organization’s Expertise in Teaching Sign Language nationally and globally)
SECOND PRIORITY:
To support countries where the sign language teaching profession is not as developed, particularly in the Global South where there may be little or no formal structure for sign language teachers to work, and look at how support can be given for development of a formal structure in their country (e.g., National Sign Language Teaching Organizational Development in their country globally)
THIRD PRIORITY:
To encourage the capacity building of the next generation of sign language teachers to become future leaders in teaching sign language around the world. (World Organization Leadership on Teaching Sign Language and Support National Sign Language Teaching Organization Issues on Minimum of Qualifications of Teaching Sign Language, Recruiting and Training Deaf individuals to become qualified sign language teachers)
